WELCOME TO ARTFUL AMPHORA!
Let me shed some light on the title of my blog. It refers to the many things that I find pleasing in life, and they are indeed -“artful.” I have a passion for the aesthetic in all things. The “amphora” references an ancient Greek vessel commonly used as a storage jar. Here I will use that vessel in order to oppose and challenge the ancient Chinese proverb that states the following:
“ A woman is a like a vessel that should remain empty of knowledge.”
My blog will include my thoughts and observations but also information and knowledge so that the vessel will never be empty and neither will my readers. I will be sharing my musings on art and design, on popular and visual culture, bits and pieces from my Women Around Town column (a monthly column I write about women artists’ exhibitions for the So. Calif. Women’s Caucus for Art’s monthly e-newsletter, In the Studio (a feature of the same column) where I focus on an individual artist after visiting them in their studio, and much more…
I welcome your comments.
